Much like the previous full-length Obsessive Self Loathing, Open the Door maintains course with blown-out dark acid techno. Classic analog techno machines pushed to their max through fuzz boxes and distortion. Torn speaker kick drums and clipping 303’s evoke feelings of claustrophobia while paradoxically rhythmically giving the feeling of pushing forward or expanding.
The moody and atmospheric title track “Open the Door” delivers the only appearance of vocals on the album.
This is cold, dark techno.
